Plat is a news-aggregating platform designed for geographically local communities. The platform allows users to only view, post, and manage their news within a single area they set themselves. This geographically separates communities within the platform while filtering out non-local news to easily visually relevant content.
It's our goal to encourage users to interact, keep up to date with, and foster the physical communities around them.
Users are encouraged to use the platform by sharing articles about local news, community alerts, events in the area to free items left at the end of driveways or even lost items, but of course users are free to post articles about whatever they wish in an effort to be involved with their community. The platform allows users to view articles by other users with the ability to follow users, block and report users, bookmark articles you'd like to keep handy, and even create drafts of articles they're working on but aren't quite ready to be released.

We want to create something that both works and lasts. To keep our metaphorical lights on we need a way to financially sustain ourselves
while we continually work on the platform.
For the day-to-day user, all common features will be completely free save for the time of watching
an advertisement to post a single article. We've decided on this feature because as posts grow in number, so will our costs, so we hope that this
will effectively scale with operation costs. We also hope that this hinderance of advertisement-watching will encourage users to make the most of
each post. Of course day-to-day users may opt-in for a Membership Subscription if you'd like to further support our operations and go ad-free.
For non-day-to-day users, such as news outlets, governing bodies, and other entities that would like to use this service, an Affiliation Subscription would allow them to form an 'affiliation' on the platform which gives them the ability to form and manage a group of users (presumably members of this entity). Affiliation users are able to display their logo on their posts and their users' profiles. Users automatically see affiliation posts when loading the app.
